Made with Vancouver Island Pilsner malt from Field Five Farm and locally grown Hallertau Mittlefruh hops, it’s a true taste of the tide.
The folks at Luppolo tossed in whole oysters and shells from Fanny Bay to shell-abrate our salty roots and tweak the water profile, giving Mare a subtle salinity and a briny minerality that’ll have your taste buds doing the wave. It pours a bright straw-yellow with a pearly white head—like sunshine on a freshly shucked half-shell. Take a whiff, and you’ll catch ocean breeze, lemon zest, and fresh-cut beach grass. Hefewizen has notes of fresh bread, a light, sweet malty backbone, clove, banana and lemon. For this batch, the team at Dog Mountain added some lemon peel to the process to increase the lemony punch.
Scrimshaw Graf (8% ABV | 15 IBU)
This cider-beer hybrid is crisp, dry, tart and slightly confusing. Graf is made with apple juice, like a cider, but in this case, the folks at Dog Mountain used slightly less than 50% juice to produce something that is still reminiscent of a lager. It gives tart, dry apple up front, followed by sweet malty notes that dance on your tongue.
