Summer has arrived in beautiful BC, and there’s nothing quite like settling onto the perfect patio with a cold craft beer in hand.
When we asked BC Ale Trail fans to vote for their favourite brewery patios across the province, the response was overwhelming – clearly, BC craft beer lovers are passionate about their outdoor drinking spots!
And why wouldn’t you be? After months of rain or snow and grey skies, these sun-soaked spaces offer everything we’ve been craving: warm weather, great company, infectious laughter, and of course, some of the finest craft beer BC has to offer. Whether you’re catching up with old friends, making new memories with family, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with your four-legged companion (because the best patios welcome our furry friends too), these outdoor oases deliver the perfect summer experience.
The votes have been tallied, and we’re excited to share the results. An incredible 87 different breweries from around BC were mentioned in your votes. With so many amazing patios to choose from, the competition was fierce – so fierce, in fact, that we ended up with a tie for 10th place, giving us 11 amazing spots instead of our planned top 10. From farm-side patios with views of this year’s hops to mountain-side taprooms surrounded by towering peaks, here are the patios that captured the hearts (and votes) of BC’s craft beer community.

Barnside Brewing
Situated amongst the fields of hops, cranberries, and grazing sheep, Barnside Brewing’s new four-season patio is one of the best places in BC to experience craft beer, conversation and community, according to craft beer fans. The dog-friendly space welcomes everyone in for award-winning craft beer, tasty eats and great company.
Originally built as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the patio was a way for the brewery to welcome customers while taking advantage of relaxed rules around outdoor service. Since then, the space has evolved to include a covered, heated patio that’s cozy in all seasons, plus a grassy area perfect for soaking in the sun in a lounge chair with a cold craft beer in hand. Barnside won the BC Ale Trail Best Brewery Experience award in 2023, and the feature blog is well worth a read to learn more about the brewery’s origins and the team’s commitment to locally sourced ingredients and community.
But perhaps Barnside’s fans say it best:
