In this episode of the Cascadian Beer Podcast, Aaron visits Kamloops, BC.
Last fall, the Cascadian Beer Podcaster, Aaron Johnson, travelled to Kamloops, to attend Brewloops 2019. He also built in a visit with Bryan Craig at Bright Eye Brewing, which was just about to open for business.
Bright Eye Brewing was founded by friends who were inspired to open their own brewery after tasting beer from Superflux Brewing in Vancouver (originally called Machine Ales while incubating at Callister Brewing).
The building housing Bright Eye Brewing was custom designed as part of a larger development so it is ideally set up for the brewery. The space has a visually stunning tasting room that boasts a live tree, a beautiful mural by a local artist, and a refurbished Austin Mini hanging on the wall (seriously). The two-story tasting room is very welcoming with big windows bringing in lots of light. And the recent addition of a new patio is an added bonus.
Beer-wise, Bright Eye features a fresh, ever-changing variety of innovative beers served right from the tanks they were made in. Food is also a big focus here — the menu includes pizzas baked to order, burgers and sandwiches, and other unique dishes including a Cobb salad that features prosciutto, chorizo, and smoked gouda.
Bright Eye Brewing can be found on the Kamloops, Shuswap & Vernon Ale Trail and/or the Kamloops, Shuswap & Vernon Winter Ale Trail.
