In this episode, Aaron visits Ace Brewing in Courtenay, BC.
Breweries can be a strong focal point for any community. Many of them align their name with the characteristics or features of their surroundings. Ace Brewing opened its doors in 2019, and is proud of its vintage aviation theme, reflecting the history of the Comox Valley and Canadian Air Force.
Ace Brewing is located in Courtenay, British Columbia, on the traditional, unceded territories of the K’ómoks First Nation.
Aaron sat down with the head brewer, Dan Lake.
Three things Aaron learned:
- Dan was first a geologist before getting into brewing.
- Ace Brewing is themed after the community’s ties to the local air force base.
- The brewery is located in an old car dealership, which gives it a very unique look and feel.
