Here’s a chance to sample the best chili and BBQ in downtown Langley, BC — all while supporting a good cause.
The Canadian Festival of Chili and BBQ will take place on 56th Avenue between Glover Road and 206th Street in downtown Langley, BC, from May 13-15. It’s a fun opportunity for meat lovers to see some of Canada’s top chili and barbecue chefs in action — and taste their delicious creations — while enjoying craft beer from Farm Country Brewing, which will be pouring three beers in the on-site beer garden, and listening to some great live music.
The weekend of May 14 and 15 is the main event that is open to the public. Folks will be greeted as they arrive by Langley City Professional Fire Fighters. For a $5 minimum entrance donation to the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association Burn Fund, attendees will receive a sample of Firehouse Chili and a bun on Saturday, May 14th, or a Pumper Pulled Pork Bunwich on Sunday, May 15th. They will also get a firefighters’ wristband, which will allow them to try competition samples of the chili and BBQ when they are available.
Please note: these samples are limited, and not guaranteed to everyone in attendance, so don’t plan on feeding a whole family this way. Food will not be available for sale at the event, but there are lots of restaurants within walking distance to put an end to hunger pangs induced by the delectable aromas being generated by the BBQ chefs!
On Saturday, May 14, watch as chefs compete in the Canadian International CASI Chili Championships while enjoying the country-rock stylings of The Antonio Larosa Band with special guests.
On Sunday, May 15, competitors will be cooking up their best BBQ in the BC BBQ Championships! Live music on Sunday will be performed by The Unbranded, a country band based out of Chilliwack.
