In this episode of the Cascadian Beer Podcast, Aaron visits the Canoe Brewpub in Victoria, BC.
Towards the end of 2019, Aaron Johnson visited the Canoe Brewpub in Victoria where he spoke to its brewmaster Kyle York. Canoe is based in a 125-year-old building on the waterfront of the Inner Harbour that was originally built to house the coal-fired generators that powered Victoria’s first electric streetlights. The heritage restoration that led to Canoe opening there cost $6 million in 1996.
Another fun fact is that local brewing legend Sean Hoyne was Canoe’s long-time brewmaster before he opened his own brewery, Hoyne Brewing, in 2011.
Canoe can be found on the Victoria Ale Trail.
