In this episode, Aaron visits Slackwater Brewing in Penticton, BC.
A few months ago in the Spring, I was in Penticton attending and part of the judges panel for Okanagan Fest of Ale. While there I stopped in to say “Hi” to some friends of the podcast who were in the process of opening their own brewery. Like many stories I’ve encountered while making this podcast series, things don’t always go according to plan. The brewery had to change their name for various reasons a few days before my visit. But now fully open and operational I chatted Liam Peyton & Chris Vandenberg of Slackwater Brewing.
Things I found interesting…
- The owners and brewer moved from Vancouver to Penticton to make this brewery.
- The space use to be a nightclub, but the conversion wasn’t as straightforward as expected.
- The branding of the brewery comes from a memory of Liam’s wife Kelsey teaching him how to flyfish.
