SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

Time: 20-25 hours per month** 

Pay Range: $22 – $26/hour depending on experience

Reporting to: Project Lead, Monica Frost

Working with: the BC Ale Trail Content Team

Location: Remote, with a requirement that you are based in British Columbia. No exceptions.

Position starts: April 1, 2025. (Deadline to apply is Sunday, March 23 at midnight.)

**Plus the opportunity to work on other projects for the BC Craft Brewers Guild such as our annual BC Beer Con and the BC Beer Awards. This would be a separate contract and mainly from June 1 to October 31. Let’s discuss!

Who We Are

The BC Ale Trail is part of Destination BC’s Co-Op Marketing program and was created in partnership with the BC Craft Brewers Guild as the Lead Administrator. The campaign showcases British Columbia as a global destination for tourists and craft beer enthusiasts alike. Our Content Team works to tell the story of the BC Ale Trail, and its partners (DMOs, Breweries, and Ancillary Partners) via various tactics such as blogs, podcasts, e-newsletters, social media, YouTube and more. Our Marketing strategies grow audience awareness and build a positive brand which supports diversity, equity and inclusion. 

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative, social media-savvy storyteller to help shape and share the BC Ale Trail narrative. You are a HUGE craft beer fan and know your Pilsner from your IPA. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on digital engagement, enjoys creating compelling content, and understands how to grow and connect with an online audience. You’ll manage and expand our presence across Instagram, Facebook, Google and other emerging platforms, using a wealth of assets, user-generated content, and original creations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and publish engaging content on META, Google, and TikTok.
  • Engage with our community, monitor channels, and respond professionally.
  • Collaborate with team members, breweries, tourism partners, and influencers.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics to refine strategies.
  • Stay current on social media trends and apply them to content planning.
  • Assist with blogs, newsletters, and other marketing efforts.
  • Attend events to capture and share live content (a plus!).

What We’re Looking For

  • Passion for BC’s craft beer scene and the BC Ale Trail brand.
  • A deep love for social media—you’re always testing trends and improving content strategies.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and content creation skills.
  • Proficiency in Meta Business Suite, Later, Canva, and basic video editing apps.
  • Ability to analyze performance data and optimize engagement.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working remotely.
  • Photography/videography skills and event coverage experience are assets.
  • Background in tourism, hospitality, or craft beer marketing is a bonus.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in META, Google, and TikTok.
  • Strong Instagram Reels creation skills.
  • Experience managing social media for brands or businesses.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Responsible useage of AI as a tool to assist with copy writing.
  • Strong content planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and essential editing tools (Canva, etc.).
  • Basic photography and video editing skills.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders and influencers.
  • Strong knowledge of BC’s geography and an interest in travel.
  • A love for craft beer—you know your IPA from your Pilsner!

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 3 years as a Social Media Coordinator.
  • Certifications or ongoing professional development in digital marketing.

Bonus Skills

  • WordPress experience.
  • Ability to collaborate via SLACK.
  • Influencer Marketing/Ambassador Program experience.
