The Moon Under Water is named after a George Orwell essay describing his ideal fictional pub.
The Moon’s brewmaster, Clay Potter, worked at Lighthouse before studying brewing at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. An internship at the big Bitburger brewery in Germany gave him a love for German-style brewing that he showcases at the Moon alongside cutting-edge sour beers and West Coast craft styles. The pub, located in Rock Bay close to Driftwood Brewery and Hoyne Brewing, is popular thanks to a great kitchen and fun events such as music bingo nights. In addition to the Moon’s own beers, the pub also features guest taps featuring other great craft beers, and the Distillery tasting room next door also offers beers on tap in addition to the Moon’s own spirits.
