Thanks everyone for your support in the app transition, we know that some users have had a few issues (to be expected with a big transition) but in general it was successful. We’ve had thousands users upgrade, and over 4,000 check-ins so far. The spirit and intent of this program was to create a loyalty program in support of local craft breweries, and as you have noticed, we have put some restrictions on check-ins to avoid abuse of the program, and to encourage users to earn points through supporting their local craft businesses. Head to a brewery, buy a beer and collect your points. Save those points up for a reward from participating locations.

With the new platform, we have some exciting new contests and challenges that we’ll be rolling out over the coming months, this is just the beginning of the BC Ale Trail 2.0, so stay tuned….

If the tips below don’t solve your issue please email support@tourism.co for help. We will respond by the next business day.

Troubleshooting Tips

You had an account in the previous app:

We sent two emails to everyone earlier in July letting you know we were launching a newly refreshed app and the instructions to claim your account in the new version. We sent those emails to the email you used originally to create your account in the app. Maybe it went straight to junk mail. No points will be lost. Anyway, I can help. Do you remember which email you used in the old app?
  1. This is what you need to do in the new app to reclaim your account.
  2. Download the latest version in the App Store.
  3. Open the app and select “Create Account”. (I know this seems wrong when you have an old account but to this app you’re new)
  4. Use the email from your previous account in the old app and create a new password.
  5. Once logged in, be sure to say “yes” to sharing your location while in the app, so you can check in at all your favourite breweries and tap houses.
  6. Next check your profile for your points by tapping on the badge/rewards icon (to the left of settings).
Can’t collect points while you’re inside a location?
  1. Yes, you must be inside the location, not outside or on the street etc.
  2. Double check that the toggle for “yes” to sharing your location while in the app has not been switched to off due to a recent app update.
  3. Below the Check-In button you’ll see “Having trouble checking in?” Please click that for additional tips and it will also share your pin location, and help us troubleshoot building boundaries.
    • If it’s a valid check-in we will make sure you get your points.

No History?

  1. We are working to investigate restoring checkin history in the app, however this will likely take a little while as we get everyone updated in the app and all information migrated over.
  2. We can’t currently guarantee that all history will be populated, however please keep on eye on things as we work to get this rolled out!
