Hawkers Market returns to Vancouver and this popular indie food and music fest is packed with delights including a special collaboration brew.
Prepare yourself for a full range of experiences—food, music, craft beer, and good company await you this Saturday, November 17th, 2018. The event this year will be held at Rocky Mountaineer Station – 1755 Cottrell Street, Vancouver.
“Our manifesto begins with accepting the vicissitudes of the natural world: both its limits and its generosities. The two main hindrances to modern food culture have been expectations and appropriations: the notion that a plate should have x and y components to constitute a proper meal.
These routines have exhausted the supply chain in most food organizations, as certain ingredients are celebrated, while others are relegated. Hawkers wants to soften the mold that has become a stiffened acceptance of edible convention.
We pledge to break down the barriers that comfort zones and habit have restricted us to. We should always be on the quest for food that makes best use of the fragile environment: making more of a mark on our palate, and less of one on the natural world.”
Who can argue with that? Nobody is who. Here’s what you can expect from the Hawkers Market.
The Beer Collab – Callister x Hawkers Market
East Van’s Callister Brewing brewed a collaboration beer with the folks at Hawkers Market and we caught up with Christopher Lay, Callister co-owner/brewer to find out more.
“I think there is a definite vibe between what they are trying to promote, and our ideals as a small producer in Vancouver. As such, we decided to do a collab for the event, and the Hawkers Coastal Common was born! This is our take on the California Common, arguably the first truly North American craft beer. Crisp and refreshing like a lager, but with a solid malt presence, and piney, citrusy notes from the Northern Brewer Hops. At 5.2%, this is a perfect anytime beer!”
